FC 24 FUT Tournaments will be hosted on the PS4 from Saturday

FC 24 FUT Tournaments will be hosted on the PS4 from Saturday, December 26 to Friday, January 1. According to EA FC 24 Coins a PlayStation Blog post, all PS4 players can join in on the competition, which involves daily competitions for seven days straight. There are a few eligibility requirements, though. For one, tournaments are only open in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and South America. Additionally, competitors must have an active PS Plus membership and be at least 16 years old. Each day will have a total of 250.000 EA Sports FC points on offer in the grand prize pool, spread out among the top 200 players.

Those interested in signing up for FC 24's FUT PS4 Tournaments can do so through the PS4's Events Tab. (Visiting PlayStation's Competition Center serves as another convenient option.) Come January 4. participants will have the opportunity to qualify for the monthly finals, whose winners have a chance to "win cash prizes and unique prizes that are unavailable anywhere else."

Tournaments, especially those that have little to no cost of entry, are always a good way to get a game's community involved. As such, a seven-day tournament replete with daily competitions should keep quite a few FC 24 fans on PS4 invested in the game, at least over the extended holiday. It's a good thing, too, as this EA Sports FC entry could use a pick-me-up given the rise of yet another loot box controversy for EA.

The sports title recently became a hot topic yet again, thanks to its release on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Players on the new hardware can expect to a pretty significant graphical upgrade, which especially impresses with regards to hair physics. Apparently, FC 24's DualSense support isn't anything to scoff at, either.

The latest edition of FC 24 on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 is put to the test in a new comparison video, and it's a big victory for video game hair aficionados. Alongside racing games, sports games are often the easiest way to track progress in gaming tech, especially at the dawn of a new generation. Because they're based on a real-life pastime and come out each year, sports games can effortlessly showcase how much technical progress occurs in a year, or even between generations. In the case of FC 24. players can see how the next generation of EA's Frostbite engine improves the world's most popular sport.

The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 received their versions of FC 24 in early October, and the game received average reviews. Many players decided to wait on the next-gen versions before purchasing the game, and those who did jump in early were met with glitches that sent players flying into the air and a questionable match ranking system online. Screen Rant's own Rob Gordon said that the game was in a "holding pattern" in his review, and it does seem that the developers had something special in mind for the current generation upgrades that have arrived this month.

The rise of the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 has introduced a few curious graphical powerhouses like FC 24. While sports games do often have a noticeable improvement over what came before, it's generally not one of the standouts from among the launch games. However, due to limited launch lineups and the rise of backward compatibility, this soccer hair and a 2018 driving game are some of the best examples yet of what's to come in the years ahead. With launch games delayed into the new year and the world still rocking from a global pandemic, the next generation of video games will continue to roll out slowly in the year to come.

PlayStation 5's DualSense controller and its haptic feedback technology will receive further support with EA Sports FC in the future, according to EA Sports Gameplay Producer Kantcho Doskov. The DualSense seems as though it's quickly becoming a favorite piece of next-gen technology among game developers across the board.

The PS5 controller's adaptive triggers allow for a greater sense of tension, helping to better convey the feel of firing a bow, for example. Meanwhile, haptic feedback is a more robust application of what was previously possible with HD rumble features. Thus far, the controller's haptics have been best implemented in PS5's pre-installed game, Astro's Playroom. Make no mistake, though, FC 24 uses the features in inventive ways, too.

Vibrations on the left side of the  Fut 24 Coins controller build in intensity after players perform a powerful left-footed shot. Trigger resistance intensifies as the player character's stamina drains, conveying the effects of increased exhaustion. And it seems EA developers intend to implement further DualSense support in EA Sports FC experiences as time goes on.
